The Toshiba Satellite C55-C5241 15.6 inch laptop (ad) seems to almost always sit towards the top of Amazon’s most popular laptop list. As that is the case, I thought we’d take an in depth look at this mid-range, mid-priced laptop.
Get connected, and get stuff done, with the exceptionally value-packed Satellite C55 laptop. Designed for Windows 10, this everyday performer is ready to help you power through life’s daily demands.

1 TB of storage, an i5 processor, and 8 GB of memory for under $500? This laptop seems like a really good deal at the moment. Screen display and battery life could be deal breakers for some people, but there is a lot of value to be had here.
Using the Toshiba Satellite C55-C5241 15.6 Inch Laptop
After first getting a hold of the Toshiba Satellite C55-C5241 (ad), I’m impressed by the brushed aluminum which just feels nice and gives the device a high quality feel. Upon closer inspection, the bottom of the device is plastic although it has a nice texture around the front area that faces you, as are the joints between the screen and bottom. I would think that the protective shell on the top of the screen and around the keyboard helps to keep this laptop nicer longer, but the plastic parts make me nervous.
The touchpad position below the keyboard and to the left seems a bit odd to me. More and more laptops have these offset touchpads, but this one just seems really far to the left. The positioning does allow for easy typing without hitting the touchpad, but my left hand kept rocking off the side of the laptop. This really isn’t a major issue, I just wish the touchpad was a inch further to the right.
The performance of this laptop is very good. With the i5 processor (you can get a i7 version) and 8 GB of RAM (you can upgrade to 16 GB), it is more than capable of running most programs. I used it for photoshop and had no problems. You might want to upgrade to a better graphics card for top-of-the-line video games, but this Intel Graphics card does work for a lot of games.
The display for the Satellite C55 is really just okay and isn’t anything to get excited about. The battery is fairly poor, lasting just five hours for standard use. I felt like the fan was running a lot after a few hours of use, which is a little annoying as it is loud, although that is preferable to overheating.
This laptop does include a disc drive, along with two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port, Bluetooth, HD webcam, microphone jack, and of course WiFi capabilities.
When was this laptop released?
The Toshiba Satellite C55 was released in August 2015.
Does the Toshiba Satellite C55 come with Windows 10 preinstalled?
Yes, this device was designed for Windows 10 and comes with it already installed.
Is the Toshiba Satellite C55 keyboard backlit?
No, and that could be a problem if you work in a dark area as the keyboard, surrounding area, and the keys are all dark/black.
The Toshiba Satellite C55-C5241 (ad) is a great value considering the low price. Laptops with 8 GB of RAM and a 1 TB HDD typically cost a lot more. The battery and display could be better. This would be a great laptop for anyone looking for a laptop at a price under $500.
