Star Wars: Battlefront III was an ongoing project from 2006-2008 by studio Free Radical Design. After two years of development, the game was almost completely finished when Free Radical Design lost the rights to the game.
While the reasons for the game not being released aren’t clear, it appears to have been something to do with the interested parties being unable or unwilling to devote resources towards a marketing campaign.
With the looming release of the new EA and DICE created Star Wars: Battlefront (ad), along with the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens film, there has been a lot of renewed interest in everything Star Wars. Ptopnline has been able to get their hands on some previously unseen footage of the cancelled Star Wars: Battlefront III game, which you can see in the video at the top of this page.
