Dell Inspiron 11 3000 Series Review

In this post, we’ll be looking at the Dell Inspiron 11 3000 Series 2-in-1 11.6 Inch Laptop (ad).

First Impression

At first look, the Dell Inspiron 11 3000 Series 2-in-1 looks a bit like the fancy, new Dell XPS 13 with it’s all silver chassis that resembles a MacBook. However, once you look a bit closer you’ll notice that the sides are actually different. Whereas the Dell XPS 13 sort of forms an arrow where the back is thicker than the front, the Inspiron 11 3000 Series doesn’t have that. There also is a lot of black spacing (bevel) around the screen on the Inspiron, which kind of seems like a waste of space. This 2-in-1 could have a two inch bigger screen if they hadn’t had so much bevel.

Some attractive features to this 2-in-1 is that it is brand new and looks like a newer Dell, it comes with Windows 10 pre-installed, and it is a really, really good price for a 2-in-1 that can be used as either a laptop or a tablet. Using the Dell Inspiron 11 3000 Series

Opening the Dell Inspiron and going from laptop to tablet is really easy. Once you turn the laptop on, it is really nice that Windows 10 is pre-installed and ready to go. One thing I noticed right away is that the device seems heavy when you are using it as a tablet. I’ve grown use to tablets that weigh around one pound, so to then be using this 3.1 pound device is a big change. This device is a little heavier than a lot of 2-in-1’s with similar screen sizes.

Speaking of the screen, this HD LED display looks great. Maybe not 4k or retina screen great, but it definitely isn’t disappointing. The graphics card is just the basic Intel HD Graphics card, so this device can’t handle top-of-the-line videogames, not that you’d want to play those on this device anyways. If you need a gaming laptop, look elsewhere.

You can actually upgrade this machine to 8 GB RAM and an SSD to make it a decent gaming rig, but if you’re going to do all of that you might as well just buy a different laptop. While the Intel Pentium N3540 processor isn’t the best and this laptop isn’t capable of playing huge videogames or running memory hogging programs optimally, it works fine for browsing the web, working with Google Docs or Microsoft Office Suite, or playing really basic games like Solitaire.

Overall

As an entry level laptop or 2-in-1, this is a pretty solid device that will get the job done for most casual users. It is reasonably priced considering it is both a tablet and a laptop, and the fact that it already has Windows 10 on it is convenient for those that aren’t all that computer savvy and don’t want to go through the effort of upgrading. The Dell Inspiron 11 3000 Series is easy to use and Windows 10 works great on it.
